Technology

"[Neurological] events in turn will be found to be preceded by other neurological events, and these in turn by others. This series will lead us back to events outside the nervous system and, eventually; outside the organism" (Skinner 1953, 28).
Behavioral Science & Computer Science

Behavior Analysis, as a scientific field of inquiry, is concerned with technology. Procedures studied are described completely and precisely, making them replicable, and thus subject to scientific scrutiny. As a technology of learning, behavior analysis must evolve methodologies toward consistent observation and analysis of behavioral and environmental events. To the extent that this can be accomplished with manmade technology, behavior analysis will approach its own calculus.

Skinner built a small soundproof chamber, called an operant chamber, to observe, manipulate, and record the behavior of animals (Carlson & Buskist, 1997).
